More than 225,000 New Yorkers have newly enrolled in coverage through the state’s health insurance exchange since the sign-up period began Nov. 15, the state Health Department reported.
The 225,244 people who signed up through the NY State of Health insurance marketplace, as of Saturday, includes first-time exchange enrollees only and does not take into account people who are renewing existing coverage for 2015.
The new enrollees include 83,057 who signed up for coverage through a private insurer and 142,187 who signed up for Medicaid.
The Health Department also reported the NY State of Health website had more than 771,000 unique visits and nearly 36 million page views between Nov. 15 and Saturday. Further, the site’s customer service center answered more than 450,000 phone calls during that period.
Enrollment for 2015 coverage ends Feb. 15. For more information on enrolling through NY State of Health, visit nystateofhealth.ny.gov or call (855) 355-5777.
