The last time the Bills beat the Patriots on the road ...

We have become so accustomed to the Bills missing the playoffs that the number rolls off of our tongues and bypasses historical events since they last played a postseason game. By now, you know how this works.

Fifteen years ago ...

* Bill Clinton was still in the White House.

* The average cost of a new home was $131,750, compared to $289,500 last year.

* A gallon of gasoline cost $1.22 compared to $3.80 last year.

* Cars were sold at an average of about $21,000 compared to $31,000 last year.

* Today's college freshman were in preschool.

And the Bills beat the Patriots on the road for the first time in consecutive years. Buffalo hasn't won a game in Foxborough since Nov. 5, 2000, when Doug Flutie started for the Bills and Drew Bledsoe and John Friesz were the quarterbacks for the Patriots. Tom Brady was still weeks away from his first NFL completion. In fact, it was his only completion that season.

The Bills are 0-15 in the second game against the Patriots since they last beat New England on the road. Buffalo has a 2-26 record against New England overall during the same period. Brady has a 23-2 record against Buffalo and has never lost to the Bills at home.  He has completed 64 percent of his passes for 58 touchdowns and 19 interceptions and eight 300-yard passing games against Buffalo in his career.

In their last 28 meetings, Buffalo has scored 48 touchdowns while allowing 94 to New England. The Bills have scored two TDs or fewer 19 times while the Pats have score three TDs or more 18 times. Over that stretch, the Pats have won by six points or more 20 times. The Bills have had only two rushers gain more than 100 yards on the ground in a game, C.J. Spiller and Willis McGahee.

The Bills are 8-7 this season. They finished 8-8 in 2000, too, but missed the playoffs. They have won more than eight games only once during that stretch, when they finished 9-7 in 2004. The Patriots over the same period have won three Super Bowls, lost two others and appeared in eight AFC Championship games. This year, they've already locked up their 12th division title in 14 years.

The last time the Bills won at New England ... Sammy Watkins was in second grade.
