Fillmore man charged with promoting prison contraband

BELMONT — A 32-year-old Fillmore man was arrested for allegedly taking a hypodermic instrument into the Allegany County Jail, Allegany County Sheriff Ricky L. Whitney announced Monday.

Claude V. Goodenow, of Botsford Hollow Road, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said he took the instrument into the jail during the booking process on other, unrelated charges. He was processed by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit and transported to Town of Friendship Court where he was remanded to the county jail on $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 insurance bond.

Goodenow is to appear Dec. 30 in Town of Friendship court.
