Letter: It takes time to learn why we’re here on earth

It takes time to learn why we’re here on earth

The other day, I came across a letter titled, “We don’t need religion to improve our world,” and decided to comment on it. The writer is correct in stating the earth we live on contains people with attitudes that “unite small groups of people into factions that are at odds with other groups, leading to prejudice, elitism, discrimination and even death and destruction.”

To find the reason we are here in the first place cannot be answered in one statement – it takes time. You must journey down the road of life until you reach the crossroad that makes you look up and realize that you are small and the universe is large. The earth is all we have in this vast space, so it is imperative, therefore, that we have a common understanding that we are not here for ourselves alone but to experience life together. Try to make the best of each day, find where help is needed and join the rest of us waiting for you to lend a hand. In the end, you will find the reason we are here in the first place.
