Amherst has agreed to borrow $155,000 to replace a water line along Dodge Road.
The town will replace about 900 feet of the eight-inch pipe between John James Audubon Parkway and just east of North Forest Road.
The water line was first installed in 1956 and there have been 24 breaks in the past 10 years, town officials said.
Construction is expected to begin in April or May and last about three weeks.
Elsewhere, the town has added five new volunteer firefighters to its roster. They are: Lucas Moore, Main-Transit Fire Department; Andrew Bluhm, Swormville Fire Co.; and Tyler Wiese, John K. Sullivan and David F. Laux, East Amherst Fire Department.
