Good as gold
Gold is getting plenty of attention as a must-have look in fashion – especially for the holidays.
InStyle magazine included false lashes that come “flecked with sparkle” as one of its beauty party tricks for the season. People StyleWatch magazine this month devoted a page to gilded goodies priced less than $10, including rhinestone gold bobby pins and gold nail polish.
And here is what the Philadelphia Inquirer had to say about the trend: “It’s the season for gleaming flecks to sparkle on fluttering eyelids and glisten on mistletoe-ready lips. A bronzy link chain, instead of a ribbon, on tuxedo-style trousers is happy-hour sultry. And shimmering, silky pantsuits are both retro and relevant,” wrote Elizabeth Wellington.
Classic yellow-golds shine bright. “But copper and rose blends, especially on sequined blouses, are trending chic, too,” she added.
The December issue of InStyle offers these two tips for wearing this favorite winter staple:
• Pale, creamy colored turtlenecks in loose, cropped silhouettes feel romantic, especially over fluid trousers.
• Long, leaner styles – woven in a cable or waffle pattern – “add a traditional twist to daring microminis or leather leggings.”

Didn’t get around to sending Christmas cards this year? Don’t feel bad. Sending out New Year’s cards is now a thing, reports the January issue of Better Homes and Gardens.
“It’s great backup for customers who are running late, or for those who want to stand out from the holiday crowd,” Shutterfly’s Nicole Stier told the magazine.
Just be sure you get them out in January.

“Madonna says it best herself: She is unapologetic. She is her own woman, a role model who shows other women how we can do what we want, and get what we want, and do so for all of our lives, with no compromise.”
