The Sabres practiced at HarborCenter for the second straight day with the first appearance from defenseman Mike Weber. He has been out after having minor knee surgery. Head coach Ted Nolan said not to expect him in the lineup against the Avs, but that he could be back next week.
"He’s a quick healer. He’s feeling good," Nolan said. "He even had aspirations of playing this Saturday but I think he’s more enthusiastic then ready. But it was a good sign. He’s really close. Just a clean-up type of thing he had to get done. No major damage so maybe."
Josh Gorges skated and again is hopeful to return to the lineup after a finger injury while Tyson Strachan had another "maintenance day."
Gorges skated with Tyler Myers while Rasmus Ristolanien and Nikita Zadorov were paired up with Andre Benoit and Andrej Meszaros together.
The lines remained the same:
Matt Moulson-Zemgus Girgensons-Tyler Ennis
Drew Stafford-Brian Flynn-Brian Gionta
Nicolas Deslauriers-Marcus Foligno-Patrick Kaleta
Cody Hodgson-Drew Stafford
So yes, the Sabres are still short a forward and are anticipating a call up from Rochester for Saturday's game with the Colorado Avalanche.
