Three Lockport groups win grants in recycling contest

LOCKPORT – The History Center of Niagara, the Mental Health Association in Niagara County and St. John the Baptist Outreach Center were the winners of quarterly charitable grants pegged to recycling in Lockport.

Based on votes on Modern Disposal’s Facebook page, the History Center received the largest award, $416. The Mental Health Association received $364 and St. John’s Outreach $260.

The size of the awards was based on the amount of recycling by city residents and the value of the material when Modern resold it. The charities were chosen by Modern.
