Jim Kelly paid tribute to former teammate Darryl Talley by wearing the Bills linebacking great's No. 56 as Kelly participated in pregame ceremonies prior to today's Bills-Browns game at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Talley has been on the minds of Bills fans nationwide since Thanksgiving, when News Sports Reporter Tim Graham's exclusive story on Talley was published in The Buffalo News.
His story was posted online Wednesday night and ran in Thursday morning's edition. Within hours, fans started crowd-funding pages to collect donations.
One page, "Circle the Wagons for Darryl Talley" via gofundme.com, is up to $129,108 from 2,855 donors and it has seven donors who gave $1,000 or more.
The Talley family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, Graham wrote in a story first posted Friday.
The original Talley story has received acclaim from football followers across the country while the Bills fans' rally of support has been covered by ESPN.com and other outlets.
ESPN anchor Kevin Connors paid tribute to the Bills fans' fundraising effort during Saturday night's Sportscenter broadcast.
