Two arrested in Buffalo knifepoint robbery attempt

Two teens were charged with an attempted knifepoint robbery Friday afternoon at Esser Avenue and Evelyn Street.

Northwest District police charged Alberto F. Cruz, 18, of Clark Street, and Zachery T. Salverson-Polson, 17, of Henrietta Avenue with attempted first-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The male victim told police that two teens accosted him about 4 p.m., and Cruz allegedly put a large knife to his throat and demanded that he empty his pockets.

The victim refused, and Cruz then allegedly told Salverson-Polson to punch the victim in the face, which he did. During the ensuing fight, the victim said he managed to wrestle the knife away from Cruz, and the attackers fled. Police reported that the two teens were found less than an hour later at Salverson-Polson’s house.
