Poetry and Literature Calendar (Nov. 30 to Dec. 6)

Tuesday, 7:30 P.M.: Jewish Community Book Fair presents a lecture by Professor Regina Grol, a Fellow at the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and author of “Saving the Tremors of Past Lives: A Cross-Generational Holocaust Memoir” (Academic Studies Press, 2014). Wednesday, 7:30 P.M.: Just Buffalo Literary Café featuring readings by contributors to “A Celebration of Western New York Poets” (Buffalo Legacy Publications, 2014), a new anthology edited by Patricia Tansey that features the work of 94 contemporary Buffalo and Western New York poets. Joining Tansey in this reading will be fellow poets Christina Wos Donnelly, Nava Fader, Gail Fischer, Gene Grabiner, Loren Keller, Rick LaClair, Edric Mesmer and Marjorie Norris. Thursday, 7 p.m.: Jewish Community Book Fair presents “Jewish Megatrends,” a lecture by Rabbi Sid Schwarz. Schwarz is a senior fellow at CLAL: The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership where he directs the Clergy Leadership Incubator (CLI). He holds a Ph.D. in Jewish history and is the author of two books, “Finding a Spiritual Home: How a New Generation of Jews Can Transform the American Synagogue” (Jewish Lights, 2000) and “Judaism and Justice: The Jewish Passion to Repair the World” (Jewish Lights, 2006). Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.: Reading and book signing by humorist and satirist Tom Waters, author of “Icarus On The Mend: Memoirs of a Manic Depressive,” “Poke The Scorpion With A Sharp Stick” and other books. Western New York Book Arts Center, 468 Washington St. (at Mohawk Street).
