Nanny suspected of stealing from her Wheatfield employer

WHEATFIELD – A Lockport woman employed as a nanny for a Gregory Lane family is accused of the online sale of at least one item stolen from the family home.

Kelsey B. Porth, 24, of Saxton Street, was charged with petit larceny and may face additional charges as the investigation continues, Niagara County deputies said.

Deputies said an iPad mini and a protective case stolen Oct. 13 was listed on Craigslist the same day. After realizing the iPad was missing, deputies added, the owner remotely locked the device, which displayed his contact information and tipped off the buyer, who contacted the owner, leading to the arrest.

Police said they also are investigating other thefts from the home, including money, jewelry and painkillers.
