Armed man escapes with $250 in Lackawanna holdup

A man armed with a knife forced a Lackawanna grocery store owner to empty his cash register and escaped with about $250 Saturday morning, said Capt. Joseph Leo, Lackawanna Police, chief of detectives.

The robbery occurred about 10 a.m. at Jimmy’s Market on Holland Avenue. Leo said the bandit, described as a thin man, about 6-foot-2, wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing, went behind the counter and threatened the owner with a knife.

After the owner opened the till and placed all the money on the counter, the robber scooped it up and fled on foot.
