The Sabres have signed a late-blooming junior player to an entry-level contract.
Free agent Jean Dupuy, a forward for Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League, has signed a three-year deal. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder has five goals and 19 points in 19 games with the Greyhounds. Dupuy, 20, totaled 10 goals and 18 points in 48 games last season.
In 159 career games in the OHL, Dupuy has 22 goals, 52 points and 177 penalty minutes.
He will remain in juniors. The alternate captain attended the Winnipeg Jets' training camp.
When he starts his pro career, he'll make $635,000 in the first season, followed by $650,000 and $675,000
