Drivers, Thruway Authority share blame for strandings
The way I see it, the Thruway backups are problems of both the drivers and the Thruway Authority when we have this type of weather. The drivers are at fault when they don’t use common sense by getting on the thoroughfare, thinking they can get anyplace they want. What can be that important to jeopardize their lives? Unless they’re trying to get home.
The Thruway Authority is also at fault by not allowing people to turn around at places where the State Police usually wait for speeders. Maybe the authority is afraid it may lose some revenue by some cheaters. But when we have severe weather like this, there should an exception to that law.
