FORESTVILLE – Businesses in Forestville soon will receive notifications for mandatory fire inspections. At the regular meeting of the village board held Tuesday in the fire hall, Allan Gustafson, code enforcement officer for the village, announced that he has prepared a letter to be sent to all commercial property owners announcing the inspections.
Gustafson said he could not find records of any recent fire inspections for commercial property. He said they are mandatory under the village’s code. He said the letter will outline basic requirements for items including fire extinguishers and exits for commercial property.
Gustafson also asked the board members to consider reviewing the local laws to be sure that state regulations had been approved and bring the village codes up to date.
In other business, Mayor Kevin Johnson announced that Evans Bank has issued a statement discontinuing a lawsuit against the village for non payment of Tax Anticipation Notes. The final payment on the notes was made last month. “This ends a chapter in Forestville’s financial problems,” said Johnson.
