Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center named Dr. John Patrick Blundell to its hospitalist team. An internist who served his residency in at the University at Buffalo, Blundell is a graduate of Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland. He is board certified in internal medicine.


Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center named Lamont A. Singletary manager of the medical center’s new Tenth Street Café. Singletary is a graduate of Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism. A former supervisor at the Top of the Falls Restaurant, he also served as assistant catering manager at the Silo in Lewiston and as a supervisor, teaching assistant and sous chef at Niagara University. The Tenth Street Café, which is expected to open by year’s end, is a collaborative effort by Memorial Medical Center, Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism, and Cannon Design.


The Western New York Regional Education Center for Economic Development’s director Jerald I. Wolfgang was elected to the board of directors of the International Society of Educational Planners. Wolfgang, who recently returned from ISEP’s International Conference, gave a presentation with Walter Polka, a professor at the Department of Professional Studies at Niagara University, on new technology in the classroom. Wolfgang is an adjunct professor in the College of Hospitality and Tourism at NU.

Company Connections

The Clarence Chamber of Commerce and Award Committee will present its 2015 annual awards on Feb. 26 at Samuel’s Grand Manor. Recipients are: Timothy Pazda, Citizen of the Year; Orazio’s Restaurant, Business of the Year; Kiwanis Club of Clarence, Organization of the Year; and Patrick Casilio Jr., Lifetime Achiever of the Year.


Delaware North, a Buffalo-based hospitality and food service company, was selected by global developer Westin and Los Angeles World Airports to bring three popular Los Angeles-area restaurants to Terminal 6 at Los Angeles International Airport. They are: the Habit Burger; Wahoo’s Fish Taco; and Earthbar.


HEALTHeLINK, the Western New York Clinical Information Exchange, and the work completed last year as part of the Western New York Beacon Community, was recently highlighted during the American Medical Informatics Association Public Health Informatics Workgroup’s conference. Arvela Heider, a HEALTHeLINK consultant from Holark Systems who worked on the WNY Beacon, participated in a panel discussion with representatives of the Utah and Southeastern Minnesota Beacon Communities.


Tully Rinckey, a law firm with a newly expanded office on Sheridan Drive in Amherst, will donate $250 to the Clarence Senior Center in support of its guest speakers series. The donation comes from Tully Rinckey’s “Jeans & Sneakers” program to which employees contribute when they wear jeans and sneakers on casual Fridays.
