Buffalo man sentenced in drug case

A Buffalo man convicted of conspiring to sell cocaine and heroin has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 78 months in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Clare Kane said intercepted phone calls revealed that Hector Rivera, 44, was receiving large quantities of cocaine from a source in Puerto Rico.

Kane said investigators also learned Rivera was conducting heroin transactions and, when he was arrested in May of 2008, officers seized 58 bundles of heroin.

His sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and New York State Police.
