Letter: Holiday buying should not begin on Thanksgiving Day

Holiday buying should not begin on Thanksgiving Day

I wonder what would happen if every employee of a retail store told management that they refuse to work all of Thanksgiving Day through to 6 a.m. Friday. That is, all employees who wanted Thanksgiving Day off to spend with their family and friends. What would happen?

Imagine if all hourly employees at Walden Galleria told their bosses, “I refuse to work on Thanksgiving.” Would all the hourly employees of the mall lose their jobs?

Any store open on Thanksgiving Day will not get any of my discretionary spending during the entire holiday shopping season.
