Salvation Army, M&T set to launch winter clothing drive

As the holiday shopping season gets underway, M&T Bank and the Salvation Army are sponsoring their “Gift of Warmth” drive again this year to help people who need winter clothing.

Residents are asked to drop off new hats, scarves, gloves and mittens at M&T branches in Western New York, beginning Dec. 1.

There also will be collection bins at several local senior centers and health-care facilities, and at the Buffalo Bills Store, where customers making donations in the coming week will get a 10 percent discount on store purchases, excluding jerseys.

Last year, Western New Yorkers donated more than 3,000 items of winter accessories, along with more than $2,200 in cash, supporting vulnerable members of the community in one of the coldest winters in memory.
