The Mid-American Conference has tentatively scheduled the University at Buffalo football game against Kent State for 1 p.m. Friday at UB Stadium.
The shift has prompted the rescheduling of Kent State's season-finale, as well. Kent State was supposed to play host to Akron on Tuesday. That game now has shifted to Friday at Kent, Ohio, the MAC announced.
UB announced admission to the game will be free for general admission seating. Anyone with a ticket to the game can redeem it for a ticket to a UB basketball game this season.
Conditions at UB's North Campus are good. Only about 5 inches of snow has fallen in the northern part of Amherst, as opposed to snowfall totals of 60 inches or more in snow-belt towns south of the City of Buffalo. UB workers had the stadium ready for play Wednesday afternoon. The game had been scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday. However, Kent State's equipment truck was stuck on Route 5 in Lackawanna and could not get to the campus.
Kent State's players took a long, roundabout route from Ohio to Buffalo via Rochester and arrived in town Tuesday evening. It would be a shame if they had to make that trip - and back - without playing, given the fact conditions at UB are good.
