Several retailers in areas affected by the snow storm remain closed today.
Walden Galleria is closed today. The mall said it is communicating with Cheektowaga officials to determine when it will be able to reopen.
“We’d like to be open, but obviously we want to keep people’s safety in mind and respect the driving ban,” said Matt Bader, the mall’s general manager.
The mall’s parking lots are clear and its main corridors are open for those who may need to seek solace from the storm, but no travelers have been stranded there.
The McKinley Mall in Blasdell also remains closed, as does the Walmart Supercenter on Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg and the Cabela’s store on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga.
Three Wegmans stores that have been closed since Tuesday, 370 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca, 4960 Transit Road in Depew and 3740 McKinley Parkway in Blasdell; are still closed. The company said it is working on reopening the stores and said the Depew store is likely to be the first one open.
Most stores said their reopening would depend on when the travel bans end and when they will be able to get employees to work safely.
