Prescription refills will be delivered by Buffalo police and firefighters

With an executive order issued by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, Buffalo police officers and firefighters will almost immediately begin delivering prescription medication refills to Buffalo residents who have been unable to get to their pharmacies because of the harsh weather, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown announced late Thursday.

Under the governor’s order, local drug stores have agreed to deliver prescription refills of their customers to the Buffalo Fire Department headquarters on Court Street behind City Hall with police and firefighters delivering the medications, the mayor said during a late night press conference there.

The mayor also said that all five major South Buffalo streets are open for business and emergency vehicles. A total ban on non-emergency vehicles and all pedestrian traffic that began at 10 p.m. Thursday will remain in force until 7 a.m. Friday, with police enforcement, the mayor added.
