A total travel ban goes into effect at 10 p.m. in South Buffalo

A total travel ban on non-emergency vehicles and all pedestrians in snow-ravaged South Buffalo will go into effect at 10 p.m. tonight and remain until 7 a.m. Friday, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced late this afternoon.

Lauding South Buffalo residents for their cooperation three days into the snow emergency, the mayor said the ban of all traffic south of Clinton Street will be enforced because of the nearly 200 heavy equipment vehicles clearing South Buffalo streets and “for the safety of residents” in the area. The mayor’s announcement of the travel ban came at his latest snow update at Buffalo Fire Department headquarters on Court Street shortly after 5 p.m.
