Weather Channel to report from Hamburg in live special tonight

The snowstorm in Western New York will get more national coverage tonight when The Weather Channel preempts its regular lineup for four hours starting at 6 p.m.  with a live special dealing with the arctic blast hitting the area and the country.

The special, “America's Deep Freeze: A Special Report," will feature a live report from one of WNY’s hardest-hit areas, Hamburg, by meteorologists Mike Siedel and Stephanie Abrams.

The first hour of the special will be anchored by Sam Champion and Jim Cantore, with meteorologists Kelly Cass and Kim Cunningham taking over as anchors at 7 p.m. alongside Cantore.

Of course, the Weather Channel special is expected to compete with the coverage of the nation's brutal weather by the national network newscasts again at 6:30 tonight.
