Alton Brown hits Ted's, Paula's, Schwabl's, Anchor Bar

Alton Brown is one of the most well-known foodies in the world, by virtue of his many food-centric shows over the years.

Now he can add another line to his resume: Western New York food aficionado.

Brown, who was in town over the weekend for with his live stage show, “Edible Inevitable Tour” at the University at Buffalo, apparently spent many of his waking hours in search of the dishes that make many of us never want to leave the region. His Twitter feed was cooking with an itinerary of some of the places he stopped.

Brown made a point of letting social media viewers in on his eating habits. Buffalo was the last stop on this leg of his tour, but you can check out his gastronomic browsing at his website. He's no dummy; he knew choosing Anchor Bar would get some of the wing freaks among his Buffalo audience chomping at the bit. "This is going to get me in trouble, I know," he wrote. "There are so many places to get wings in this town, but I only had time for one."

Afterward, one of the places on his taste trek, Schwabl's, offered people who'd been to Brown's show a chance to cash in their ticket stubs. Through Thursday, one will get you a drink with purchase of lunch or dinner, according to the restaurant's Twitter account.

So to sum up: coffee from Spot; doughnuts from Paula's; hot dogs from Ted's; wings from the Anchor Bar; and a beef on weck from Schwabl's.

For Brown, that would be a weekend to remember. For many of us, that would be a Saturday.
