Two are charged in robbery of a Tops Market

TOWN OF NIAGARA – Two Niagara Falls men have been charged in a robbery at the Tops Market at 4235 Military Road. They were arrested early Thursday morning after a traffic stop in the Town of Niagara.

Niagara County sheriff’s deputies and Town of Niagara police charged Eric R. Gajewski, 25, of Thornwoods Drive and Dominic P. Casale, 23, of 59th Street with third-degree robbery and petit larceny. Casale was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

A clerk at the store told police two men wearing masks and gloves gave her a note just before 1 a.m. Thursday and before she could finish reading it, said, “This is a stick up.” The men had her dump money from her register and the next register into a plastic Tops bag and fled.

Police recovered $400 when the vehicle was stopped nearby at John Street and Chester Avenue.

Both men were arraigned in Town of Niagara Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail on $20,000 bail. On Friday Attorney James J. Faso Jr. appeared on behalf of Casale in Niagara County Court and his bail was lowered to $5,000.
