Man charged with taking silver goblets from Wheatfield home

WHEATFIELD – A man allegedly took two silver goblets, valued at $600, from a house in the 6800 block of Nash Road on Thursday. The victim said she believed he planned to sell them for scrap metal.

Joseph M. Kotrys, 24, of Nash Road, was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with petit larceny at 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Kotrys had been living with the victim on and off for the past two weeks due to his ongoing drug problems, according to the victim. A witness said he saw Kotrys carrying a white bucket containing the goblets to his truck.

Deputies found the goblets, along with a meat cutter and other items that belonged to the victim, in Kotrys’ vehicle.
