Buffalo police officer suffers broken wrist in collision

Northwest District Police Officer Baudilio Rodriguez suffered a broken wrist when his patrol car collided with another vehicle Friday afternoon at Hertel Avenue and Tonawanda Street.

Rodriguez, who was taken to Erie County Medical Center, was responding to a call of a man possibly with a gun at about 1:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

The patrol car’s lights and siren were on at the time of the accident, police said. The other driver, a woman whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries. An investigation is continuing to determine if the driver failed to yield to an emergency vehicle.
