Albert G. Dee, a retired Buffalo police lieutenant, died Wednesday in ElderWood Skilled Nursing Facility, Hamburg. He was 89.
Born in Buffalo, he served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II.
Lt. Dee joined the Buffalo Police Department in 1951 and for many years was a community liaison officer and a desk lieutenant, primarily in South Buffalo. He retired in 1987.
A longtime South Buffalo resident, he was a member of the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association and the Valley Community Association. He was a Fourth Degree member of Monsignor Leo J. Toomey Assembly 2038, Knights of Columbus.
His wife of 61 years, the former Catherine O’Meara, died in 2005.
Survivors include three sons, James, Thomas and Dennis; two daughters, Jane Weinert and Nancy Ryan; a companion, Jean Anderson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Charity Parish (St. Ambrose Worship Site), 65 Ridgewood Road.
