COVINGTON – A tank truck carrying manure and an oil tanker collided shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Starr Road and West Middlebury Road n the Town of Covington in Wyoming County , spilling the contents of the trucks on the pavement.
There were no serious injuries, although both drivers were taken to hospitals.
The oil tanker, driven by Robert Lovejoy, 39, of Churchville, failed to stop at a stop sign, Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies said, but no charge was immediately filed.
Lovejoy was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he was listed in fair condition.
The other driver, whose name wasn’t released, was taken by ambulance to Wyoming County Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Agencies that responded to the scene included State Police, the state Departmental of Environmental Conservation and its Spill Response Team.
