NIAGARA FALLS – Police charged a Falls man with striking another man with a stick on Tuesday afternoon in the 2300 block of Pine Avenue.
Curtis L. Cheeley, 53, of Grove Avenue was charged at 5 p.m. Tuesday with second-degree assault, a felony.
The 62-year-old victim was found bleeding from the forehead and told police that a man with a wooden stick struck him in the head and then fled. The victim said he was walking along Pine Avenue when a man driving a Blazer yelled something. The victim said when he yelled back the suspect got out and struck him in the head with the stick. The victim refused an ambulance for medical treatment.
Police found a wooden pole that was believed to have been used in the assault and then located the suspect, Cheeley, who was arrested when he was identified by the victim.
