NORTH TONAWANDA – The indoor soccer and tennis complex on Ridge Road – Sportsplex, which was closed on July 17 because of numerous violations, will remain closed until fire and sprinker systems are running according to state codes, the City of North Tonawanda reported on Tuesday.
In a statement North Tonawanda Fire Chief John Lapham said, “There are significant issues that must be addressed before they can be allowed to admit the public, according to New York State Building and Occupancy codes. We as the city and fire department, do not wish to inflict hardships on property owners, but only look out for everyone’s safety.”
City officials have been working with owner Joe Robinson since July to address safety issues before the doors could be reopened to the public.
The main issues involved the repair of the roof; and repairs to the electrical, fire alarm, heating, and sprinkler systems.
