Hilda L. Re, retired court reporter, active in church

Hilda Louise Re, of Buffalo, a retired court reporter, died Monday under Hospice care in Weinberg Campus, Getzville, after a brief illness. She was 83.

Born in Buffalo, the former Hilda Tanzer grew up on the East Side and graduated from Fosdick-Masten Park High School.

Mrs. Re served as a court stenographer in the 1970s and 1980s for Chief City Court Judge Sebastian J. Bellomo and City Court Judge Samuel L. Green. In the 1990s, she worked for Evan Kenner, a private investigator.

From 1997 to 2009, she worked in the Old World Cheese Shop at Wegmans supermarket on Amherst Street.

Nicknamed “Sparky” because of her zest for life, she was active in many clubs and organizations at St. Margaret Catholic Church.

Her husband of 62 years, Joseph J., died in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Donovan and Jackie LoVullo; and six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Margaret Church, 1395 Hertel Ave.
