Falls man charged with stealing survival equipment

NIAGARA FALLS – A Falls man was charged after he was caught shoplifting survival equipment and found with prescription pills at 12:15 p.m. Monday at a Rite Aid on Pine Avenue.

Victor H. Grove, 35, of Monroe Avenue, was charged with petit larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a prescription outside its container.

Rite Aid security told police Grove was stopped after he tried to leave the store with safety glow sticks, a multi-purpose tool, hexamine fuel tablets, an emergency sleeping bag and an emergency flashlight. Total value was $79.95.

He was also found with two pink pills in a pill holder in his bag which were identified as Clonazepam.
