It's moving week for the Canisius Golden Griffins as the program set up shop in HarborCenter. The team moved into its new digs on Monday and will host Ohio State on Friday and Saturday.
Canisius captured the reactions of players as they first entered the new locker room. "This is sick," was probably the most overheard phrase of praise. Senior Braeden Rigney had the best description of the newness of the room: "It smells like Home Depot."
Enjoy that smell while it lasts.
Coach Dave Smith said while the current team is enjoying the new home, it's also a testament to the players who came before and helped to build the program. And those alums were pretty excited to see the new rink.
"I couldn't be more proud of my time as a Griff and to be an alum," said Preston Shupe, who was senior captain of the 2013 championship team. "Every win they have, whether it be on the ice or in this case a new rink, it makes me really proud."
The hashtag of the day was #proudalum:
