Nicholas Forehand of Orchard Park-based Northwind Insulation recently competed in the 13th annual America’s Best Installer competition in Denver. Forehand defended his title and skills in a fast-paced competition for a $10,000 grand prize. Created in 2003 by building products manufacturer Johns Manville and Insulate America, the America’s Best Installer competition emphasizes the importance of proper insulation installation as a way to combat costly home heating and cooling expenses.
Niagara University will honor Maryalice Demler, anchor at WGRZ-TV Channel 2 and James Glynn, chairman and CEO of Maid of the Mist, with the St. Vincent de Paul Award at this year’s President’s Dinner on Nov. 1 at the Seneca Niagara Casino Hotel and Event Center. ATTIA is the Australian government-approved industry body supporting the tea tree oil industry to enhance the production and uses of tea tree oil. The certification means Kanberra is officially sanctioned to promote its full portfolio of products as containing pure Australian tea tree oil.
ParentEDU Inc. launched its website, www.ParentEDU.info, which provides lessons so parents can review a homework topic in order to help their child. The content follows New York’s Common Core for math, organized by the same modules and lessons children are using, housed in one place. The website and lessons were reviewed by teachers in the Brighton, Hilton, Gates, Chili and Brockport public school districts in New York State and is endorsed by KidsOut&About.com. ParentEDU currently supports third grade math with fourth grade rolling out in 2015.
Autism Services announced that its 12th annual Arts Work Auction and Sale, which took place at Asbury Hall recently, raised more than $41,000. All of the proceeds from the event directly support the agency’s performing arts program. Established in 2002, the Arts Work Program is presented by Joe Cecconi’s Chrysler Complex, Lawley Services, ONY Inc. and Upstate Pharmacy.
