Ronald Silverio, president of Evergreen Health Services in Buffalo and chief executive officer of The Evergreen Association, has been named to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s Ending the Epidemic Task Force, which will work to end the AIDS epidemic in New York State by 2020.
The group’s goal is to bring the number of new HIV infections below the number of HIV-related deaths, and to reduce new HIV infections across the state from 4,000 per year to 750. Key to reaching that goal will be pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, a highly effective medication.
“I’m heartened by Gov. Cuomo’s commitment to put an end to this epidemic,” said Silverio. “Advancement in preventive medications – like PrEP – make this goal attainable.”
