Clarence burglary suspect jailed after arrest

A 30-year-old Clarence man linked to a series of burglaries in the Town of Clarence in recent weeks was jailed at the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $50,000 bail, State Police reported Monday.

Mark E. Taggert was arrested on the second floor of Samuel’s Grande Manor on Main Street in Clarence about 2:20 a.m. Sunday after State Police assisted by Amherst police responded to a burglary-in-progress call concerning the business. After a broken window was found, a search led to the arrest of Taggert on the second floor. He is charged with four felony counts of burglary in the third-degree, two counts of felony attempted burglary, possession of burglar’s tools and criminal mischief for the Samuel’s Grande Manor break-in and several other Clarence burglaries. He faces further proceedings in Clarence Town Court. Anyone with information about Taggert is asked to contact the Clarence State Police office at 716-759-6931.
