City Mission aims to raise $2.3 million to help homeless

The Buffalo City Mission’s fall fundraising campaign is underway, with the goal of raising $2.3 million to sustain its services helping the area’s homeless. In the past year, the mission reported, the number of clients needing assistance increased 36 percent.

Money raised in the “One Mission, One Hope” campaign will provide food, shelter and clothing for men, women and families at the mission.

“This year alone, we provided over 215,000 meals and over 85,000 safe night’s sleep for our community,”said Buffalo City Mission Executive Director Stuart Harper.

The mission also offers services to encourage healthy habits, treat addiction, teach parenting skills and improve literacy so its clients can continue into more stable, self-sufficient lives.
