Buffalo man sentenced on plea to cocaine possession charge

Jerome C. Crosby, 58, of Buffalo, was ordered Monday to serve a 6.4 year federal prison term by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara on his guilty plea to cocaine possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine.

Crosby was also ordered to forfeit $58,328 in alleged narcotics trafficking money seized from him when he was arrested in 2008. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Clare Kane said Crosby was one of 31 suspects arrested and convicted in the case and the 29th sentenced so far.

Kane said the local drug gang was obtaining kilogram-sized shipments of cocaine from New York City for distribution in the Central Park area of Buffalo. Buffalo police and federal law enforcement agencies broke the ring by mid-2008, Kane said.
