Where we live: Cheektowaga

A public hearing on the 2015 town budget will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 3301 Broadway.

Both the tax levy and property tax rates are down in the $87.36 million budget, attributable largely to use of fund balances and increased commercial assessments.

Under the proposed budget, the total average tax bill for a house assessed at $100,000 would be $1,603.16, down $65.76 from this year.

A Town Board work session will follow.
