Kids interested in cashing in their Halloween candy can drop by Dr. Michael Foley’s dental offices the day after.
Winning Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is buying back Halloween candy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at both its Amherst location, 3476 Sheridan Drive, and its Orchard Park office, 3364 Southwestern Blvd.
Children will receive $1 per pound of candy, as well as a free tooth brush, a small prize and a chance to win a door prize.
All candy collected will be shipped to Packs4Patriots, a North Carolina organization that assembles and ships special care packages to military personnel deployed overseas.
Foley and his staff believe their candy buy-back program gives children an incentive to curb their sugar consumption, while helping contribute to charity.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Foley and his staff have invited children and schools to trade in their Halloween candy. Last year, more than 4,700 pounds of candy was collected; Foley hopes to reach 5,000 pounds this year.
