Tim Graham's Points After: Bills 43, Jets 23

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Quick highlights from the Buffalo Bills' blowout victory over the New York Jets at the Meadowlands ...

What it means: The Bills won for the first time in MetLife Stadium after five losses. At the season's midpoint, the Bills are 5-3 and very much in the AFC East race.

Player of the game: Bills quarterback Kyle Orton was effective and clean. He went 10 of 17 for 238 yards and four touchdowns with no turnovers. It was only the second time in his career he threw for four TDs. Orton should've had five TDs (see below).

Jets player of the game: Please.

Play of the day: In the second quarter, Orton connected with rookie receiver Sammy Watkins up the right seam for what should have been a touchdown. Watkins began celebrating well before the goal line, and Jets defender Saalim Hakim (a receiver who plays in certain secondary packages) tackled him at the 5-yard line.

Takeaway, takeaway, takeaway: The Bills collected six turnovers (four interceptions, two fumbles) for the first time since 2009 against the Jets.

Backfield watch: With top running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller injured, Bryce Brown started and got the first carry, but Anthony Dixon had the most touches. Dixon ran 22 times for 44 yards. Brown had seven carries for 15 yards. Neither caught a pass.

Stat line of the game: Jets quarterback Geno Smith completed two passes to his teammates and three to Bills defenders before getting yanked in the first quarter.

Preliminary injury report: Bills receiver Robert Woods went down with a back contusion with 12:33 left in the second quarter. He returned after halftime. ... Defensive tackle Kyle Williams left in the second quarter with a back injury but missed only a series. ... Backup safety Kenny Ladler went to the locker room with about four minutes to play. Ladler's injury wasn't announced in the press box.

Bills inactives (healthy unless noted): Running back Fred Jackson (groin), running back Phillip Tanner, receiver Marquise Goodwin (hamstring), receiver Marcus Easley (knee), tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, linebacker Ty Powell, cornerback Ross Cockrell.

Jets incactives (healthy unless noted): Receiver Greg Salas (ankle, wrist), receiver Walter Powell, guard Dakota Dozier, guard Wesley Johnson, nose tackle T.J. Barnes, linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali, linebacker Trevor Reilly (knee).

Coming up: The Bills have their bye and then return to action Nov. 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs in Ralph Wilson Stadium.
