Buffalo Police officer injured when cruiser flips over on inbound Kensington

A Buffalo Police officer was injured when her cruiser flipped on the westbound Kensington Expressway just before the Grider Street overpass shortly before 4 p.m. today, Buffalo police said.

The officer was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening, according to department spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge. Accident investigators, he added, said that when the officer swerved to avoid an animal, the cruiser struck a barrier and flipped, coming to a rest on the shoulder of the expressway.
