Probation violator jailed in Niagara burglary case

LOCKPORT – A Town of Niagara man who nearly completed five years on probation before violating its terms was sentenced to a year in the Niagara County Jail Friday by County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Michael S. Pilon, 35, had pleaded guilty in 2009 to third-degree burglary for stealing a shotgun from a home on Norman Road in Wheatfield on March 2, 2009.

At the time, Pilon recalled, Farkas wanted to sentence him to a year in jail and Pilon and his attorney talked her out of it. He previously has served 92 days behind bars in connection with the case, and that will count toward his sentence now.
