A sunny weather forecast with just a chance of showers Saturday afternoon makes the weekend a good one for farmers market pumpkin shopping, getting lost in a corn maze or the simple pleasures of an outdoor chore, like raking leaves.
“It’s looking pretty good,” said Steve Welch, meteorologist technician at the National Weather Service. “It’ll be nice on Sunday. I like the sun. The temperatures are pretty much right what I like.”
With temperatures for Saturday predicted in the 60s, he recommends an umbrella for the afternoon, just in case. Sunday will be in the 50s and Welch was thinking of getting in some yard work along with watching the Buffalo Bills game.
Weekend happenings look to be a good fit for a nice day outside, including a Saturday farmers market in Hamburg at the village’s municipal parking lot on Main and Union streets from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Sunday, head to Lancaster’s market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lancaster Lanes parking lot at 4913 Transit Road.
Sunday is also the last day of the Fall Festival at the Great Pumpkin Farm at 11199 Main Street in Clarence. Costume contest judging for youngsters starts at 2 p.m. Assorted fun begins at 10 a.m. with a $5 admission, with mummy wrapping to hayrides and pie eating, and goes on till dusk.
