Attica first-responders use Naloxone to revive drug overdose victim

ATTICA – A 24-year-old Attica resident who had overdosed on heroin at an Exchange Street apartment Thursday night was revived by the first use of the heroin overdose drug Intranasal Naloxone in Wyoming County, Attica police and fire officials reported Friday.

After police got a called about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and rushed to 17 Exchange, Attica Fire Department EMS personnel were called and administered the heroin-revival drug.

The overdose victim, who was not identified, had been unresponsive and suffering cardiac arrest when Police Officer Stephanie Previty arrived but the nasal drug revived to person and crews at the emergency room of the Wyoming County Community Hospital treated the victim.

Attica police officers have completed all required training in the use of the heroin-revival drug and are just awaiting final approval from Wyoming County health officials to join fire crews in using the new overdose protocol.
