National Grid’s U.S. boss is retiring

Tom King, National Grid’s top executive in the U.S., is stepping down at the end of March and will be replaced by Dean Seavers, a former General Electric and United Technologies executive.

King, National Grid’s U.S. president and executive director, joined National Grid after its expansion in the United States, first in New England and then in New York, and during the purchase of KeySpan Corp. in 2006.

Seavers will begin work at National Grid on Dec. 1 and will work with King during a transition period before King leaves the company March 31, National Grid said. At GE, Seavers headed the company’s GE Security business.
