Fire drives two from home on Gold Street

A house fire on the 400 block of Gold Street early today left two occupants in need of temporary shelter from the Red Cross, authorities said. But no injuries were reported.

The fire started in an exterior wall of the two-and-half story wood frame house at 431 Gold. and spread to the second floor and attic.

The exterior of a neighbor’s house at 433 Gold also was damaged.

The fire at 431 Gold caused $30,000 damage. The cause remains under investigation.
